, Sustainability Manager, 336-397-7929

About our office

The Office of Sustainability is responsible for researching and recommending improvements concerning greenhouse gas emissions and energy use on an annual basis. This office was also given the appointment to analyze the latest in trends of what the City of Winston-Salem is doing to provide services that reflect the city's leadership in energy and environmental awareness.

Recently, the Office of Sustainability has come to include the Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful program and the Recycle Today program.

What is Sustainability?

The most widely accepted definition of sustainability is meeting the needs of today without jeopardizing the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This topic also spans a huge range of issues, from energy efficiency to housing to the local economy.
