Participating Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools

Kimberley Park and Sherwood Forest Elementary Schools were the first to begin Safe Routes to School Programs after they hosted Safe Routes to School workshops in 2006. During the 2010-11 school year, those two schools were part of a SRTS pilot project with these schools: Clemmons Elementary, Forest Park Elementary, Kernersville Elementary, and Kernersville Middle School. Funded by the NC Safe Routes to School Program, the grant focused on education and encouragement programs at these schools.

Here are some of the SRTS activities at these schools:

  • Walk to School Day
  • Bike to School Day
  • Bike blender parties as student rewards
