Fairgrounds Farmers Market Seeking Contestants for Watermelon-Eating Contest During Gourd-geous Gourd Day, July 13
Fairgrounds - June 28, 2019
The Fairgrounds Farmers Market is seeking contestants for the watermelon-eating contest it will hold as part of Gourd-geous Gourd Day on Saturday, July 13.
The N.C. Society of Gourds will be displaying and selling gourd wares starting at 8 a.m. And because watermelons are a kind of gourd, at 10 a.m. the market will host a watermelon-eating contest. All contestants get a free T-shirt and the first place winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to the market.
There is no fee to enter, but contestants must be 16 or older. Complete rules and the entry form are posted at CityofWS.org/FarmersMarket. Entries must be received by July 10.
The Fairgrounds Farmers Market is Forsyth County’s longest-running source for locally raised fruits, vegetables and proteins. Market vendors also offer flowers, handmade baskets, cakes & pies, fresh baked breads, jams & jellies, honey, crafts and much more.
The market is open every Saturday year-round from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enter through the parking area off of 27th Street.
