Recreation & Parks - Oct. 9, 2018

The Winston-Salem Recreation & Parks Department is holding its third annual "Trail of Treats" and a free screening of "Hocus Pocus" on Friday, Oct. 19, at Bolton Park, 1590 Bolton St. Admission is free.

Trail of Treats is a Halloween-themed community resource fair for elementary-age children and their families. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., more than 30 information booths operated by non-profits, community and youth organizations and county agencies will be set up in the park for kids to participate in games and activities to win treats or prizes. While the kids enjoy the activities, parents or caregivers can learn about resources in the community for families with children, such as music programs, scouts and after-school programs. Children are encouraged to come in their Halloween costumes.

At 7:45 there will be a free screening of "Hocus Pocus," a 1993 Disney movie starring Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker about a curious youngster in Salem, Mass., who awakens a trio of diabolical witches from the 17th century. The movie is rated PG.

Food trucks will be set up around the park. For more information contact Jessica Garrett at 336-650-7694 or
