Emergency Information for Residents
The Emergency Management Department coordinates with Forsyth County to plan for floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, winter storms, chemical spills, terrorist events, and other significant events or disasters.
Be Prepared
In an emergency, you will want to contact friends and family. Here are some tips:
- Have important phone numbers programmed to your cell phone.
- Conserve cell phone battery power by adjusting the brightness settings and closing apps that you are not using.
- If you can message your friends and family on facebook, twitter, etc., do that rather than using phone. Limit use of phone lines/bandwidth so that emergency calls can go through.
- Call 911 ONLY if you are in a life-threatening/emergency situation.
- Keep your cell phone and camera batteries charged; have a car charger available, have a supply of regular batteries on hand.
- Have a plan for who to contact, where to meet, etc.
