Street Sweeping

Street sweeping services are provided by a contracted company, Sweeping Corporation of America. The city is divided into thirty-five sections, with sections being swept three, four, or five times per year while downtown streets are swept on a weekly basis. In addition to the scheduled sweeping, the company is also contracted to handle spot sweeping on an on-call basis. The company sweeps approximately 11,600 miles of curb and gutter along city maintained streets each year. As a result of sweeping, approximately 1,290 tons of debris was removed from the city's curblines.
