Water Watch Workshop

Water quality monitoring is the measurement or observation of a waterway over time. It allows people to assess water conditions and to determine if waters can support aquatic life. Monitoring data can be used to inform and educate about the conditions of local creeks and streams. Monitoring data can also be used to identify pollution problems.

The Water Watch Program is a fun way to learn about water quality while spending some time in the creek. Learn about our local waterways and what makes a stream healthy.

The Water Watch workshop is scheduled for:

Date: Saturday, September 10, 2011
Time: 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Location: 2147 Bethabara Road, Historic Bethabara Park (meet in the Visitors Center parking lot)

Volunteers are provided with all necessary equipment. Please dress with safety in mind (long pants to protect against scratches, closed toe shoes or boots to protect feet from sharp objects in the creek) There is no cost for the workshop, though participants are asked to volunteer to monitor a creek twice a year and report on their findings.

This program is sponsored by the City of Winston-Salem's Stormwater/Erosion Control Division and the NC Cooperative Extension of Forsyth County. Space is limited.
