Bowling

Bowling
Now the second largest sport in Forsyth County, bowling is a favorite of all ages. With over 500 bowlers, this sport continues to increase in athletes every year. Athletes train for 8 weeks at various bowling lanes in Forsyth County. At the end of training, Special Olympics Forsyth County (SOFC) hosts tournaments for all bowlers. In December of 1996, the 1st SOFC Youth Christmas Classic was held, featuring 150 bowlers. In 1997, the Classic became a two-day event with 250 bowlers. Due to the growth of youth bowlers, the 2002 Youth Christmas Classic became a three-day event, featuring 421 youth bowlers from 14 schools. Bowling athletes compete on the local, area, and state level.
