Equestrian .jpg) Special Olympics Forsyth County (SOFC) Equestrian Team has been riding strong since 1994. Athletes develop riding skills, learn basic terminology, and learn to handle, control, and care for a horse. Riders are divisioned based on their ability to safely negotiate any movements in their class. Divisions are: A Level- walk, trot/jog, canter/lope; B Level- walk, trot/jog; C Level-walk only.
Riders are classed by: Support-rider needs physical support of one or two sidewalkers and or the presence of a leader. Any help in the arena is "support". Independent-independent rider, may not be helped while competing. This sport demands great concentration between rider, horse, and volunteer. Athletes compete at the SOFC Show, PTA Invitational, and the the SONC Championship.
