Concert Band Evenings 2010
History of the Band
Moravians have a long history of celebrating the events of their life with music and it was certainly true at Bethabara, the birthplace of Winston-Salem. John Morris Cline, the found of the Bethabara Concert Band, felt that the establishment of a band here would honor the founding of this town and the lives of the settlers who carved out a life in the wilderness.
In the early 1980s, John and Mildred Cline made a series of calls and sent letters to gather potential band members. The Band was formally established in April 1986 and gave their first performance inside the Palisade Fort at Historic Bethabara Park in September 1986.
Enjoy evenings outdoors with the Bethabara Concert Band. Bring the family, a blanket and picnic dinner. Enjoy hay wagon rides, children's games, ice cream, Dino's New York hot dogs, and wonderful music from all eras by the band.
