“The struggle has lasted nearly seven years, has spread into all parts of the world, has cost the lives of a million men, and many cities and towns are ruined.”
...Wachovia Church Book, 1763
Step back into the past at Historic Bethabara Park and explore the history of the French and Indian War, which had a major impact on this area between 1754 and 1763. The NC Provincials Regiment from Fort Dobbs will camp outside the Palisade walls and conduct military drills. Mingle with members of the regiment and discover what life as a soldier in colonial North Carolina was like.

Learn about medical practices of the period, including bleeding, dentistry, musket ball removal, amputation and cranial surgery from Albert Roberts, who portrays a physician traveling the colonial wilderness front. Watch 18th century medical techniques demonstrated throughout the day.

Follow the doctor as he checks on the health of the men in the Regiment. Be sure to visit the reconstructed 1754 Village. Try your skill in a variety of hands-on activities, from colonial games to shingling a roof. Led by our Bethabara guides, these activities are fun for children of all ages.
Travel back in time and join us as we bring history to life during the French and Indian War.
