City Seeks Citizens to Serve on Development-Process Review Panel

Mayor Allen Joines and the City Council are looking for citizens to serve on a new Development Review-Related Advisory Committee. The committee will evaluate development processes and programs, recommend improvements to the City Council, and alert the council to major concerns about the development process that hinder development in Winston-Salem.

Specifically, the committee will:

  • gain an understanding of the issues that currently hinder development;
  • solicit public input regarding issues that hinder the development process;
  • evaluate “best-practices” or other similar process; and
  • prepare a prioritized list of recommendations, organized by city department.

The nine advisory committee members shall come from the following areas of the development community: commercial builder, residential builder, developer, real-estate agent, engineer, architect, citizen representative.

Citizens interested in serving on this committee for the next 12 months should submit an application to the Mayor’s office by Aug. 9. Appointments are scheduled to be made at a September meeting of the City Council.
