Tree Lighting Scheduled for Dec. 6

The city and the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership will hold the 18th annual Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, in Corpening Plaza at First and Liberty streets.

Entertainment will be provided by the Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church Choir, the Academy of Dance Arts, Positive Image Performing Arts, the R. J. Reynolds High School jazz band and a cappella chorus, the North Carolina Black Repertory Company, Miss Forsyth County and, of course, Santa Claus!

The celebration will be preceded by the annual Winston-Salem Holiday Parade sponsored by the Winston-Salem Jaycees. This year’s parade will begin at 5 p.m. at Fourth and Poplar streets.

Sponsors for the Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration are Harris Teeter, BB&T, 99.5 WMAG, the Winston-Salem Journal, and Capture Public Relations and Marketing.
