Silk Plant Forest Committee to Seek Public Input

City Manager’s Office - March 28, 2008
Contact: Derwick L. Paige, 747-7473

The Silk Plant Forest Citizen Review Committee will hold a public forum on April 7, to solicit citizen input regarding critical issues and allegations related to the Winston-Salem Police Department’s investigation into the Jill Marker-Silk Plant Forest case. The forum will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Room 530 of the Bryce A. Stuart Municipal Building, 100 E. First St.

Individuals will have up to three minutes to present material, issues and information related to the investigation of this case and other cases that the committee determines to be plausibly related.

The City Council has tasked the committee with conducting an independent, comprehensive fact-finding review of the Jill Marker-Silk Plant Forest case. The committee is not charged with making a finding or determination of the guilt or innocence of Kalvin Michael Smith or any other possible suspect.
