SKYWARN Severe Weather Spotter Training Offered

The National Weather Service and the Office of Emergency Management are sponsoring SKYWARN Severe Weather Spotter Training and a review of the recent tornadoes in Clemmons and Greensboro, Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Salem Fine Arts Center of Salem Academy & College, 500 E. Salem Ave.

The class will include how and why buildings fail in high winds; thunderstorm development and severity; recognizing storm and cloud elements; anticipating storm motions, intensity and severity based on cloud structure; and lightning dynamics and threats.

The class is free and is sponsored by the Office of Emergency Management, the National Weather Service, and Salem Academy & College.
