Leda White Named Deputy Human Resources Director

Leda White has been named deputy director for human resources, City Manager Lee Garrity announced today. She will begin on Feb. 5.

As deputy director, White will assist Human Resources Director Bill Hill in overseeing the department that handles recruitment, compensation, benefits and training for the city and its 2,360 employees.

White has more than 25 years of experience in human resources management, including employee and labor relations, recruiting, policy development, and organizational development. Prior to joining the city she served as vice president for human resources for Pictorial Offset Corp. of Carlstadt, N.J., and as director of human resources for Kmart Fashions of North Bergen, N.J.

“Leda brings a wealth of experience to our Human Resources Department,” Garrity said. “We are fortunate indeed to have a person of her caliber on our staff.”

White, 53, is a native of Venezuela and lived in that country for 13 years before moving with her family to New Jersey. She has a bachelor’s degree with honors from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. She is fluent in Spanish and Italian.

White and her husband, James, live in Winston-Salem. She has a grown stepson and stepdaughter. Her annual salary will be $66,900.
