Emergency Management Offering Training

The Office of Emergency Management is offering two classes during April to residents of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.
"Are You Ready?", a class on hazard awareness, emergency preparedness, and the role of emergency management, will be held Tuesday, April 17, at the Lewisville Fire Department, 216 Lewisville-Clemmons Rd. in Lewisville; and on Thursday, April 19, at the Kernersville Fire Department, 316 W. Bodenhamer St. in Kernersville. Both classes will be held from 7 to 9 p.m.
"SkyWarn," a class on weather training, will teach how to recognize cloud structure and formation as it relates to potential severe weather, and how to report observations to the National Weather Service. Two classes will be offered:
Basic training will be offered 2 to 4 p.m. Wed., April 25, at the Forsyth EMS headquarters at 911 E. Fifth St., in Winston-Salem; and on Wed., May 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. or 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kernersville Fire Department.
Advanced training will be taught 7 to 9 p.m. Wed., April 25, at the Forsyth EMS headquarters. All classes will be taught by Jeff Orrock, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Raleigh.
