Winston-Salem Police Chief Patricia D. Norris will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, to introduce the Police Department’s new photographic line-up software and line-up protocol.

The news conference will be help in the Public Meeting Room on the fifth floor of the Bryce A. Stuart Municipal Building, 100 E. First St. The software will be demonstrated.

The software and the protocol are based on the recommendations of the North Carolina Actual Innocence Commission and guidelines provided by the National Institute of Justice and the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.

The Winston-Salem Police Department’s Criminal Investigation and Identification divisions have been trained in the new procedures and are now using them in active criminal investigations. Other units in the department will begin using the new procedures as they are trained.
