Shattalon Drive Improvements
This project provides for improvements to Shattalon Drive between Murray Road and Bright Oak Avenue. The purpose of this project is to reduce traffic congestion and to improve safety for motorists and pedestrians traveling along this section of roadway. The project is being financed in part through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
The improvements will help reduce travel delays and accident occurrences by widening the road and moving left turning traffic out of the through lanes. The project also provides for the construction of sidewalks, transit bus shelter, wide outer lanes for bicycles, and the replacement of a pipe culvert.
Construction may include night and weekend work with travel lanes being temporarily closed or narrowed. Signs will be posted.
The project is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in September 2010.
NEW Shattalon Drive is now open to two-way traffic. However, construction continues and periodic lane closures should be expected to accommodate additional paving.
