Minority- and Women-owned Business Bid Opportunities

Your business does not have to be a certified minority- or woman-owned business to bid on city contracts for goods and services. However, being certified will allow the city to contact your business and inform you of those opportunities that are available here. Follow the links to the left for certification information.

Application to register with the city Purchasing Department as a vendor [pdf]

To have your business certified as a minority- or woman-owned business you must follow the links to the left to the State of NC HUB Department.

In the City/County M/WBE program the general contractor bidding on a Formal Contract bid project is responsible for soliciting M/WBEs for participation. M/WBEs should submit questions and bids to the general contractors bidding on a project. Every project will have an advertised pre bid conference where MWBE sub contractors can attend to hear specifics of each project and to meet the general contractors interested in bidding on the project.

For more information contact, Ruben D. Gonzales,  M/WBE Coordinator, (336)747-7474. RubenG@Cityofws.org

For Informal Bid Opportunities such as sidewalk repairs, curb and gutter repairs,  small construction, and mowing opportunities, please call Mike Sloan for plans & more information (336)747-6929.
