Derwick Paige, Deputy City Manager
Derwick received a B.S. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a M.P.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Derwick also is a 1998 graduate of the Municipal Administration program and a 2006 graduate of the Public Executive Leadership Academy, both sponsored by the Shcool of Government at the University of North Carolina.
He joined the city in 1984 as a public safety officer. He also has served as a planner, minority- and women-owned business enterprise coordinator, budget analyst, special development administrator, director of enterprise community development, development director, community and economic development director, and assistant city manager.
As deputy city manager, Derwick is responsible for overseeing the following departments: community and business development, human relations, inspections, recreation and parks, vegetation management, Facilities/Asset Management, and Planning.
Derwick is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) where he holds the designation of credentialed manager and served on the conference planning committee. He is a member of the North Carolina City/County Management Association, where he serves on the Collaboration with MPA Programs committee. He currently serves on the Northwest Piedmont Development Corporation Executive Board, and UNCG MPA Advisory Board.
